FAQ

Yes, we really buy your logs.

  • Do you really pay for logs?

Yes! We are partnered with many different mills that accept and pay for tree service wood.

As long as you put in the effort to prepare the logs for milling, you’ll be paid for them.

  • Do I need to deliver the logs anywhere?

No, we send trucks directly to your yard or jobsite to come get the logs.

  • Can your trucks load themselves?

Occasionally yes, but normally no. You’ll usually need to load the logs onto the trucks, which requires a machine with a 13-foot reach. If you don’t have a machine to load, we can hire someone with a machine to come do it for you.

  • What is the minimum amount of logs you’ll send a truck to come get?

It’s got to be a full load, otherwise the logs may not be worth enough to cover the costs of transporting them to the mill. That’s 40 softwood logs or 50 hardwood logs, at minimum.

  • Can I mix hardwood and softwood?

Not at this time. You can mix different softwoods together or mix different hardwoods together, but softwood and hardwood can’t be mixed.

  • What does a typical load of logs pay?

It is highly variable. It depends on a lot of things, including species, number of knots on the logs, and how well prepared they are. For a load of 40 softwood logs, a typical range is $1,000–$2,000. For 50 hardwood logs, a typical range is $1,400–$3,000.

  • How do I get paid?

We pay by direct deposit. We’ll pay you consistently on a schedule that works for you.

  • How is the value of the logs determined?

Each mill has a series of grades they put logs into. We negotiate prices for each grade with each of our mills. When the mill receives the logs, they assign every log a grade and measure how many board feet are in it. That determines the value.

It’s a lot to keep track of, but that’s what we’re here for. All you need to worry about is prepping your logs. We’ll handle the rest.

  • What areas do you service?

NH, VT, MA, CT, and RI. We have also recently expanded our services to parts of NY, ME, MD, PA, and NJ.

If you live in another state, don’t worry. We’re always expanding our operational area, and we’ll get to you eventually.

  • Do you ever stop buying wood?

Nope! Most mills we work with stop buying logs during certain parts of the year, but since we work with many mills, we can divert logs between different buyers as needed to keep your wood moving. That being said, there are occasionally periods of time where we have to stop buying specific species. Those situations are always temporary, though.

  • How do I get started?

Got a full load of logs you want to sell? Create an account and submit a request for a pickup. We’ll review the photos of your logs and reach out to you if we have any questions. If everything looks good, we’ll match you with the right mill, then send you a truck! Yep, it’s that easy.

  • How do you make money?

We take a small fee for brokering the sale. But don’t worry, you’ll keep the lion’s share of the money paid out for your logs. It’s your wood, after all.
